This false color Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) image from July 15, 2015 at 16:35 UTC (12:35 p.m. EDT) shows Typhoon Nangka as it was located just south of southeastern Japan. The coldest cloud tops are shown in purple and are associated with the strongest thunderstorms.
